Its probably going to match a reference GTX780.

The R9 290X and R9 290 in pure compute power are only around 10% in difference,but the R9 290 has the same cooler,so will boost more often to the higher clockspeeds than the R9 290X.

AMD also have issues with instability in low power states occasionally - it seems to be something very tricky to get right across the range of frequencies that different models use these days. It'll be fine for some driver versions, then break in another, but only in certain systems. It's not something that only one side suffers from.

I agree but nVidia have had over six months to come up with a fix.

If you are not desperate I would wait 2/3 weeks. The price war has only just begun and 290X custom cards may also be around the corner.

There is also the R9 290 being launched on the 31st. However,under £390 is cheap for an R9 290X.

I've just had a look on OCUK and that thread is a great laugh. Guys are literally rejoicing at Nvidia stock levels reducing then offering condolence to people as OCUK increases prices.

It's amusing how the same people seem to post over and over saying we are not Nvidia fans we are all about value not brand, yet in the £399 HD7990 they say nothing lol
