    GTX 660 from a 560ti - Worth the upgrade?

    Hi all,

basically can trade my MSI 560ti Twin Frozr for one of these - was going to pick up a 670 or a newer 760, but just wondered if I'd notice much of an upgrade to the 660? It's just the standard model, but could trade it straight up. I don't play too many brand new games but do like a bit of Arkham City and that type of thing.
    Cheers

    The GTX 660 is somewhere between a 570 and 580:- 560Ti vs 660

As a free trade, it's a definite upgrade, but if you have a buyer for your card and you're looking to buy an upgrade, the HD 7870 would be a better investment:- 560Ti vs 7870

I wouldn't unless I got a nice price on my old hardware.

It would essentially be a straight trade, well I'm chucking in a small SSD as well - that was free anyhow - so worht it as a straight trade you reckon still?

Given that you can probably snag a 650ti 2GB (660 equiv.) for around £50-75 and even a small SSD (64/128GB) is maybe worth £40. Is it such a good trade? I thought initially yes, no brainer, but now... its borderline.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

The 650Ti isn't remotely close to the performance 660, even the 650Ti Boost edition is soundly thrashed by the 660. The 650 starts at ~£100 and the Boost edition starts at ~£120.

Why not? You're making 20-30 squids based on the resale value of the new card. Noise may be an issue though if the new cooler is significantly worse than the one had previously.

I have a sneaky suspiscion that the 560ti may be stronger compute wise than the 660 so it may worth looking at if that is your thing.

Re: GTX 660 from a 560ti - Worth the upgrade?

Decided against it in the end - flogged the SSD to him instead Decided I like keeping a cool almost silent system and as my rig is pretty highly o/c'ed didn't necessarily want to risk an overheat, although unlikely, for a card I'd probably sell sooner rather than later Cheers for all the views lads

Not worth it unless its a free trade as a 560ti is about as good anyway.

Re: GTX 660 from a 560ti - Worth the upgrade?

It depends on the cost of the upgrade, but performance wise the GTX 660 is a GTX 580 with 2gb vram.

    For 1080p it's a good upgrade.

Free trade? Yes. If you plan on investing money, 167 quid for a 670 is crazy good value.
