    7990 34fps in bf4?

Hi just installed my new 7990 that i bought from scan last week on my haswell 4770k set up...... My old card (i say old...4 month) is a GTX770 2gb which i was getting around 50/70 fps same settings in game on a 1920x1080 monitor.

Im getting 34fps in game and on the mini map around 46fps which is just not right at all?

I took a screen shot and also had afterburner running which clearly shows only one gpu working?

I have spent about the last 6 hours looking for a solution to fix this and came up with nothing?.....also tried 2 drivers which were the same?

Watched a guy on you tube where his was pushing 160fps and never dropped below 100fps and that was on the UN-optimised beta.

Stupid question but you do have Xfire enabled within AMD Control panel? Its not on by default.

Even if Xfire is disabled (making it a 7970), i reckon he should still be getting higher framerates than that... Something is definitely not right.

Which slot is the card in? Make sure it's in a 16x slot.

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

Yeah its in the top slot.....i cant see anywhere to change it from crossfire to single gpu?....the only part that says crossfireX just gives you the option to enable frame pacing of which i have tried on and off? .....the x2 gpus are listed in ccc and i have just wiped the drivers and re installed again......i am now getting 25fps and im just walking around......another odd thing is when i press escape to come out of the game (the bit where the quit screen is with no graphics on show) it jumps up to 200fps in the green and then the fans go mental to 100%...it actually should be the other way round shouldn't it?..........but surely there's no graphics to tax the card so why is it generating heat?

I think this card is gooshed.......im not sure if i should take it out in case it damages my new mobo cpu etc?

The gtx770 was fine on 1920x1080.....the reason i had to get the 7990 was i bought a 2560x1440 Monitor and the fps went right down to 30/45 fps on it......the monitor had to go back but im getting another one soon.....so if my gtx was struggling on the 2560x1440 then the 7990 wont even play on one considering i am getting 50/70 fps which is nearly double the fps of the 7990 on this monitor with my gtx770.

    Screenshots inc!

Using the latest 13.11 Beta drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/downloa...208.1%20-%2064

My dual 7950s will do BF4 Ultra @ 1440 at around 80fps so yours should be around/higher than that

As for the 2nd card showing random things like 100% activity or fan usage... I think its bollox. Mine does that from time to time and I know the card isn't doing anything.

Heres what i get over the top of yours....maybe the 7990 just auto crossfirex?

When i said Fans going mental.....i didnt mean on Afterburner, i meant that theres a jet engine going off inside my case....they are the same noise as when you manually turn it up 100%.

What are the gpu clocks and usage when tanking to 25fps? It is showing two gpu's right?
Edit to add: The card will generate heat on that blank screen if it's running full 3d clocks/volts and pushing 200fps.

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

in ccc i think one was 300mhz/150mhz and the other one is 1000mhz/1500mhz.....In afterburner i think its about the same as my first pic.

I have checked GPU-Z and both cores are enabled?

This is doing my head in........i'm just about at the end now and wanting to put my gtx770 back in and box up the 7990......i think maybe i should have just bought another 770.

I was thinking maybe this isnt compatible with my mobo...... then remembered it also is MSI and came with the gpu as a bundle offer. lol......havent had much sleep as i was on nightshift last night and again tonight.

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

So it's seeing both gpus but only using one around 50% and not the other hence low 2d clocks on one.
A couple of things to try (if you haven't already) disable ULPS.
    Install DXsetup from Battlefield folder.
I'm not 100% but I think you need to run fullscreen for crossfire to work? Edit: after a bit of searching it seems yes, you must run fullscreen or no crossfire.

Definitely need full screen, try enabling this and a logo appears in the top right corner when active.

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

I only minimised the screen to show afterburner next to it for a screenshot......you cant have afterburner showing on the game at fullscreen.......the fps im getting on fullscreen is the same as minimised and even less when running about.....was getting 26 fps last night.....my son on his first gen i7 with his GTX580 gets more than that?

If the card was ok surely spending all this time trying to sort this problem out is not normal.....i have this thread on other forums and tried all the advice that everyone has gave me but to no avail, nobody can figure this out?

I emailed scan 2 days ago and again yesterday but still no reply?

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

Just got off the phone to scan and it's going back by rma.....they are letting me keep the motherboard which was part of a bundle with the GPU and just deducting it from the refund, which saves me a bit hassle removing the mobo sending it back and being without a pc for while......brilliant customer service......the guy who i spoke to (Gareth) was so helpful and understanding.

    Re: 7990 34fps in bf4?

GTX770 back in with a slight overclock ( AMP EDITION) as you can see theres a huge difference in the fps lol.....obviously in game its gonna drop a bit but nowhere near like the 7990 which should smash the 770 in every way?

    Back to the drawing board.

Edit....just went onto bf4 and i'm getting around 70fps most of the time and the lowest it went down to was 57fps and highest was 92fps.
