Hi all I am looking for a good sub 100 card that will last at least 2 years or so
not bothered on make either nvid or ati
would have to be new I suppose although would consider non overclocked second hand cards
What is the best bang for my buck

Would it be possible for you to stretch to something like £140? That should give you a pretty big increase in performance, since you can then get a 9800 Pro or, if you wait, a 6600GT, both of which should last quite a while. For under £100, performance would be a fair bit lower - you might be able to get an ordinary 6600, otherwise I'd say that a 9600XT would be best.
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
A sub £100 card to last two years... prolly not gonna happen.
I'd say a 9700pro or a second hand 9800pro.
I agree here.Cant go wrong with either.Might be worth waiting and seeing what this gens budget cards are like first like the rad x600's or nvidia's 6600's.Originally Posted by skuzgib

Well does depend on games/settings you play but 2 years is optimistic. You might consider going easy on coppers for a month or so and adding £40 to that budget like mike suggests which would bring you into range of a 6800NU which will almost certainly give you good performance for next 2 years. A 6800 series cardwould give you about 30-40% better performance than a 9800 Pro in higher in-game settings/resolutions.
Well, the x600 looks crap, the x700pro/xt looks well worth it, and so does its NV competitor, the 6600/6600gt.Originally Posted by CrapshoT
I think 6600 can be had for a little over £100 (pci-e though, think AGP bridged ones are comig soon).
If you could stretch to ~£130, order247 does a 6800LE which has a high success rate of softmodding to a vanilla 6800 (worth £200) which is what I'm getting.

this seems not too bad

but as said might wait and save the coffers for next gen midrange card
Hmm... It's not bad, but it's only got a 128bit memory bus, as opposed to the 256bit one on the fully fledged 9800's - you'd be better off with a second hand 9800proOriginally Posted by ede670
