    MSI 780 Gaming

Hi guys, curious to hear peoples opinions.

Looking at getting a 780 and scan have a MSI 780 Gaming Twin Frozr on the today only section for £353, which seems a steal. I have noticed though that it is a lower clocked version @ 889 mhz, im wondering whether it is worth dropping an extra £40-50 on a different card with a higher base clock?. I hear that this particular card isnt a great at overclocking but I love the fact the twin frozr is meant to be incredibly quiet.

Can anyone see any other partner cards coming down to the £350ish mark in the near future?

    Re: MSI 780 Gaming

I was watching the prices on 780's for a couple of weeks and it was only the MSI gaming edition that came down that far. It is one of the slowest 780's though. The only other card that came close to that price is the Gainward GTX780 Phantom at around £171. Definately worth the extra £21 i would say as it's clocked to 980mhz out of the box. In the end i went for the EVGA GTX780 FTW ACX at £395. It's a cracking card, clocked at 980mhz, 1033mhz boost (actually boosts to 1150mhz!!). I went with this card because of EVGA's excellent warranty plus they let you remove the cooler.

Buy it and increase the clock yourself. Save you money and you'll have the same performance as the other ones.

Did you get the card in the end? I can't find any info on it, it isn't even listed on msi's own website.

I think this is the card he meant. It's still £354 on today only.

I did buy the card in the end and Im pleased with it. I did notice on the box though, where the OC card would say OC Edition it had a sticker saying "Lite Edition", which is why it comes with a lower core clock and is a little cheaper. Havent tried overclocking it just yet but I will be at some point.

Yep I snapped one up too, the "Lite edition" sticker had me worried but it's exactly the same and while despite it supposedly comes lower clocked than the OC version (941 vs 1006) it boosts beyond that by default. OC's up to and beyond 1200 on the core and 7ghz vram.
