Calm down dear, it's a commercial.

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, booting into safe mode, running driver cleaner and then re-installing the drivers? It's the only thing I can think of right now...

Why are you so stressed about RTWC, when anything over 40fps will be absolutely fine. Try playing some more modern games then you'll see how it opens a can of whup-ass on the 5950.

Try playing a game that actually pushes the boundries of your card. Benchmarking isnt be all end all... unless you brought it for that, in which case waste more money on an Athlon64 etc...

Err in total ignorance here, but shouldnt you be using a more upto date benchmark. One that tests for current stuff. I'm sure there is a 2005 version?

You won't get many more marks on 3dmark2001. And I agree with Clingy, the 3dmark series are pants. Get a real test. As for low gaming performance, try reinstalling the game and deleting the entire folder. If it does nothing, at least it occupied a few minutes. Also wait for the new upcoming WHQL drivers from nvidia.

Tbh ive seen nothing constructive in here. I use 3dmark as a system stabilty and performance checker as this guy here seems to be doing so ill try to help.

have u updated to the latest drivrs from nvidia,s website?

have u set all sliders to performance and application preference?

but u will be best testing with at least 3dmark 03

u will not see a massive difference in directx 8 games but the changes should affect dx 9.0 games like farcry and doom3 although u shouldnt be losing fps in games like wolfenstein.

as said above remove ur drivers boot into safe mode use a program called driver cleaner then restart and apply newest drives

This thread is filled with ignorace! If yous dont have nothing constructive to say then dont post! I agree with bouncin, if that dont do it, well then theres nothing really left besides a clean instal of windows... that always works best any way! You should instal the graphics drivers first after your first boot...

I agree with DaftpuNk, cut your save game out of RTCW and store it somewhere safe.

Then used Add\Remove hardware and remove RTCW from there, go to where RTCW is installed and delete anything that is left of it and then re-install game, re-insert save game folder.

But before you do this Remove your Nvidia drivers, Nforce drivers in safemode, then run Driver cleaner and remove anything nvidia based with it.

You could also go type regedit inside the RUN command and delete any references to Nvidia or use a registry cleaning program and delete Nvidia entrys.

Then before you restart PC, re-install the Nforce drivers first and then the Nvidia drivers.

If this dont work then im stumped!, you'll probably have to have a new copy of windows installed.

Also you dont need a A64, your XP cpu should do.

hmm... unless you monitor has a refresh rate that high.. i dont think youll notice a difference between 300,000 fps and 100 fps...

But otherwise, try the driver cleaner thingy, your 3dmark score does seem a little low.. have you got AA and AF on??

You won't see much of an improvement in 3dmark02. The highest I have seen a 6800 ultra hit on 3dmark 01 is only 22k. It seems nvidia didn't optimize the drivers for directx8, but I don't blame them. A better way to tell whether your card is an actualy improvement if you haven't got the time to game (which you should have or there is no point in you buying your card) is to rund 3dmark03 through on your system. You should expect a score of between 11.9k to 13k. If your score is the same as or above 11.9k then your system is running perfect. Also try the new 66.81 drivers from nvidia. They are whql and are almost official because they are available on the nvidia ftp site. Also try guru3d for the drivers

There might be many reasons for this problem.

A friend of mine reported the same problem with an X800 XT PE. His card gives more frames in DOOM 3 than the previous one, but there seems too be a ceiling of 44fps. It seems that the problem is that your setup (and my friends and mine) is too old to take advantage of potential of the card. My friend is going to upgrade his whole system to an A64 3500, I will tell you the results when he finishes the upgrade.

Another reason might be that your system is overclocked and the card is sensitive to that. Try to restore the original settings and see if it makes any difference.

    Regards
    Kyuss

Eh? Some optimisation is necessary thats all, I see 23K in 3D Mark 2001 and 11.8K in 3D Mark 2003 with a my system in the sig. 'Ravens Nest' suggestion is best as it will mean you wont have to reinstall, I did the same when upgrading from my 9800 Pro -> Galaxy Glacier 6800GT.

I would expect your system to be on par with my system if not surpass it (remember the A64 will always be quicker at ram access than the Athlon XP).
