Radeon 9800 AIW TV problems ... help!!

    Hey!..

I have a Radeon 9800 AIW . . And would like to set up the TV on my computer. I did set it up before and had the various problems with Direct X 9.0b . .But managed to fix with help from the Forums!. ..

But since then I have formatted my PC and I now have Direct 9.0c . . I have also now installed the latest display drivers . . Catalyst 4.10 . . and the latest MMC .. MMC 9.02. .Soo it is all up to date.. But TV doesnt work at all .. (Oh and I have also installed the Microsoft .net Framework)

I get the following error when trying to use the TV feature. . It doesn't get past this point .. and does this everytime. .

I have tried various things which I could think of. . But none have worked!!. . I have also searched the internet and the forums but couldn't find an answer. .

Soo any help would be greatly appreciated. .

    Thanks

Cat 4.10 are very poor drivers.I would driverclean them and install either 4.8's or 4.9's.Or even the omega version of the drivers.I had this trouble as well and I "think" I had to download and install a ATI tv-capture wdm driver set before I could get it to work.

I now have uninstalled everything . .all drivers. .MMC .. .WDM .. everything.. Then I re-installed the patched 4.10 cat drivers. . But that didn't help. .

I then uninstalled that and decided to re-install everything again. . So I have now re-installed . display driver, WDM driver, microsoft framework 1.1, Cat 4.10, Dvd encoder and the MMC 9.03 . . But it still continues to display the same error message I have posted above!. .

And now its even worse as I go into Photoshop and it says my 'My Monitor Profile is defective. . Soo now I have two problems.. ! lol. .

Any help would be great. .

    Thanks

I have been there many many many times!

    Try this...

    http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/HomeTheater_Download.jsp

    -or-

    http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/d....jsp?dl_id=140

Sorry I cant remember which one I used... only one will work for you... However this is only a temporary fix, there only trials after all! I found the only way to fix the problem your having is to reinstal windows... Also are you using SP2?

Why did ATI make it sooo hard to set up and use the TV feature?!?

Thanks for help. soo basically its the MMC software causing problem?

I'm a long time in this AIW game so this is what you need to do. I'm using W2K SP4 because I'm not a big fan of XP.

However if you have XP you need to get SP2 pronto. (to make it short)

    First get cat-uninstaller.

    Then download DirectX 9.0b hotfix.

You can find the same here : http://support.microsoft.com/default...n-us%3BQ825116

What is important to know is that in never-ending game of pushing the blame between guys from ATI back to MS people, AIW users need to know when they can use the right MMC and DirectX version.

You have no business playing with anything later then DX9.0b. This is your stop, later is only opening the door for more potential problems.

As time goes by this will also have the right fix version, so don't rush it with new versions

    Specially don?t rush with highly bug-happy MMC9.03.

9.02 is the top for stabile work, although many still use 8.8 for ultra reliable work. (if there is such with MMC)

The best AIW address to get in the game of THE right version and release dates is : http://www.rage3d.com/board/forumdisplay.php?forumid=24

    1) cat-uninstaller
    2) DX9.0b
    3) DirectX 9.0b hotfix.
    4)

Oh right thanks for your help! .. I thought if I updated it would be better than keeping the old one because of improvements etc..!

When I get home tonight I will get on with installing SP2 and uninstalling all the other rubbish. .!

What Cats do I need or can I stick with 4.10?

Thanks for all your help. .

Thanks for all your help. .

Well, your main objective is to make sure MMC is stabile.

Use the one you have on the install ATI CD, then as you verify your MMC setup works stable, then switch to higher CAT, provided you feel you really need one.

But make your MMC stable first
