Gigabyte GTX770 Base Clock: 1046 vs. 1137 MHz

    Hello,

I am looking at the above graphics card(s) and would like a bit of advice. I understand the latter of the two is a special OC edition (i.e comes overclocked and can be overclocked further) but my question is, is there any comparison of the two with regards to temperatures, performance, reviews comparing one-another etc?

Also the typical prices of the two are:

Gigabyte GTX 770: £245.99 (currently on special offer)
    Gigabyte GTX 770 OC: £263.72

Ultimately, is it worth the extra ~£20 for the OC edition?

Are they the same cooler? If the oc has the windforce, get it. if not, and you have £20 kicking around you probably won't be disappointed. if you're making sacrifices elsewhere to afford it I wouldn't bother (TBH, I'd be waiting for mantle reviews on 280X before buying either).

You mean if the non OC has the windforce cooler, get it.

Well, TPU did review the OC version:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/G..._WindForce_OC/
Personally unless Gigabyte bin the cards I don't think it's worth buying the dearer one as this late in the 20nm cycle most GK104's should be able to hit 1100 anyhow. Uses about an extra 20W compared to reference clock too.

If you look at W1zzard's overclocking results the OC doesn't clock any better than the other 770 TPU have reviewed.

Yes but if the regular model has it then it is a given that the OC model also has it.

Re: Gigabyte GTX770 Base Clock: 1046 vs. 1137 MHz

Just to clarify both actually have the windforce cooler. Would the 1137MHz affect the FPS of the graphics card (slightly unsure when it comes to the memory of a GPU)? [even if it only improves it a small amount]

The issue I have right now is, I still need to buy a suitable PSU, at the £80 mark but I want a decent brand, at least 750W, hybrid/fully modular and +80 Gold. This extra £20 will allow me to put the funds into the PSU and give me a few more options.

Yeah, the cooler is the main thing, so go for the cheaper model.
