    Spec me a budget gpu

Hi there, I'm building a system for my old man at the moment and am looking at graphics cards, the system will be used for gaming and so I'll need decent bang for buck!

Don't want to spend over £70

    Cheers

Cheers! After having a look around, I've seen a 6770 second hand for about £45, and a 480 for £50.

Are either of these worth a look in?

^^ i find it useful. The 480 is still a reasonably powerful card; power usage and heat consumption are a turnoff. I would look for something better than 6770 if you're prepared to go second hand; it offfers 260 performance but at much lower power consumption, always a trade off....

No warranty on both cards and the HD7770 is faster than the HD6770,and the GTX480 is faster but drinks power for its level of performance.

    Edit!!

What are the specifications of your system including the PSU model??

Not decided on the psu yet, I've got an i7-950 and a motherboard so far, the build is still very much in an embryonic stage

If it's mainly for gaming I think you've budgeted badly (unless you got a very good deal on the 950)

GPU >> CPU for gaming. If it's not needed right now then I'd wait as long as possible for the gpu, see if prices change etc. 2nd hand is definitely a viable option, might be able to get a 570 for that kind of price, similar performance to the 480 but better for power consumption and heat.

Yeah I picked up the cpu and a mobo for £85 which I thought was a pretty nice deal!

It depends on the games that you want to play but budget and gaming PC aren't usually terms that are suited to the same sentence.

Re: Spec me a budget gpu

With a decent mobo and cooler I imagine its fun OCing the 950; probably more exciting than many games!

Old man.... gaming. I see an alterior motive perhaps?
