    What GPU+peripheral

Hi there im in the market for a new gpu i was going to buy the gigabyte r9 280x that came with bf4 for 226 pounds(on Dabs)however i must have been dreaming because it now cost around 250 pounds. Also seeing as im new to pc gaming i would like to get either a headset(don't currently have one was looking at turtle beach p11s) or a new keyboard( i have a generic microsoft one). I wish i could get all of them but i may be buying a few games as well. Preferably i would like to get a r9 280x. I have about 260 pounds to spend. Also will 550 watts be enough?...so many questions. Any suggestion would be helpful

    Thanks

    Re: What GPU+peripheral

Keep your keyboard for now, for headsets in my opinion, I think a good gaming headset should have surround sound so that you can place the sounds of everything going on around you and hear opponents coming from behind etc... not buying a keyboard will leave you with more for the headset, with a limited budget you might find it makes more sense to go for a stereo headset.

You mention getting Battlefield 4, that comes with the AMD R9 series graphics cards, so the entry level R9 card are the 270 series starting at around £130, assuming you have around £230 to spend then that leaves £100 for the headset. A surround sound headset can be bought for as little as around £50 which means you could put that £50 towards your graphics card, moving you up to a 270X with prices starting at around £150. With that in mind maybe you should consider the Gigabyte 270X and the headset would be a reasonably cheap 5.1 set like this Speedlink set or a better quality stereo headset like this Cooler Master one.

Lastly you could just go for the graphics card for now and then add the headset later and the keyboard after that, adding components one at a time might allow you to spend more on each rather than compromise any of the components just so you can buy more of them at once. Only buy what you really need now and add the others later.

Just to add onto this take a look at Scan's today offers HERE. It's possible to get a MSI R9 270X with BF4 for £155.99 you could save a bit of cash going through Scan deals.

They had offers on gaming headsets not long ago, may pop back up

    Re: What GPU+peripheral

Truthfully I'd either wait for the Gigabyte to come in stock from Dabs.

OR just buy the Sapphire one for £220 HERE. Battlefield 4 only costs £25 on Amazon so either way you'll be saving some money.

Origin codes for BF4 go for about £14 on eBay - mostly from people who've bought AMD cards but don't want the free game...

Yeah the PSU would be fine long as you're not running SLI / xFire.

    Re: What GPU+peripheral

The PSU is fine, and that gpu will be fine, things like peripherals are far more personal.

If I was looking to get a new set of headphones/a new keyboard I would look to spend quite a lot of money on them, certainly when compared to some of my friends, as I rate them very highly considering it's how I experience the games I'm playing.

Try before you buy is the best advice for buying things like that if possible.
