Also, what are the best prices on them atm?

    I found this:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63700

£170's a good price for a 6800 mate and imo its easily worth it over the 9800pro.

Oh and the 6800 might softmod to a GT as well

But what if a person already had a 9800Pro...would it be worth it to upgrade to a vanilla 6800?

It would still be a fair difference but not a leap. I have a 9800pro and i wouldnt upgrade to the 6800 myself... if i could afford to upgrade now then it would probably be a gt.

Im going to wait until the athlon 64's, nforce 3 and pci express is mainstream (nice and cheap ) before upgrading

    I've had both of these.

Yes..its faster. It also overclocks very well indeed. I think the 6800 vanilla model is very understressed as a standard chip

    Its cack in Il-2 tho

it would be pretty awesome, as my 9700 pro aiw sems to be dieing (lots of graphics artifacts from time to time) i was looking at the 9800pro but if the 6800's are better maybe i should save a few more pennies

while its a nice idea....dont buy one with that sole intention. Buy one cos its darn good value for money anyway.

If the pipelines are available, then excellent, but trust me....damn thing is fast anyway

Chances are NVIDIA won't release the plain 6800 SKU on PCI Express.
