Guys,
I'm thinking about putting a connection on my plasma screen TV to my laptop via the TV out cable.
MY TV has 3 scart sockets and a composite channel. My DVD player is connected via composite so what I'm looking at are options, what TV out cable can I get that will allow me to connect my laptop to the Plasma sceen.
All options appriciated.
Ok I think you mean you want to display what you see on your laptop on the plasma. May I say one note of caution first - plasma screens do tend to 'burn in' and leave a nasty scar of what has been there for a while, so if you do connect your laptop up, remember to use a good screensaver.
Your options -
Normal tv out via phono connector - I do not recommend this as it is so poor quality.
S-Video out - this may be the best option avaliabe as it is good quality, but still not the best
Ideally you want to connect your laptop to the plasma via the dsub connector, but the plasma probably wont have this. You could instead buy a converter that converts the dsub signal into a composite (RGB) signal. As your composite connection is already being used you could connect it through the SCART using RGB. This will give the best picture quality but will cost you. I will try and find a link to one, I know that I have seen them before.
If you want to comprimise quality/money go for s-video
If you want best quality buy a converter

What connections does your laptop have, I presumed it has the normal vga out and svideo out. Also what do you want to do with your plasma when connected to the laptop - watch movies or surf the web etc. If you just want to watch movies I would go with the Svideo but if surfing the web good picture quality is essential so I would say get a VGA to RGB converter.
