    gf4 ti4200 screen standby problem.

    Hi guys and girls.

    The problem:
I have installed winxp on my computer, this is from having win2k. When i have the screen resolution above 800x600x32 the moniter goes on standby, as it would if the computer is turned off. i have tried 45.**, and the latest 66.** drivers neither seem to resolve the problem. My brother has a win2k3 evalution which i have tried, with hope to help the problem, but it occurs just as it does in winxp. With win2k installed i can have the moniter in any resolution - 1280x1024; and this doesnt cause a problem.

    Can anyone help?

    Specs:
    -xp1800
    -abit KG7-RAID
    -512mb (2*256mb) pc2700
    -gf4 ti4200
    -winxp with sp2.

    Thanks guys.

check what refresh rate you are trying to run the monitor at little buddy, try @ 60hz just to see whats going on.. there might be some refresh-rate override info somewhere which is forcing it to try to display a higher refresh rate than it can... give my regards to will btw

ok it doesnt do the standby thing any more
but i had a go at playing generals and it just crashes when it gets to the menu screen

i also noticed that the graphics card is getting very hot so i postioned a fan to cool it down a little, then after about ten minutes loaded generals again
this time it got a little further into the battle between USA and GLA then crashed
so i reckon i might need a new cooler
    can you still buy them?
    thoughts?
