ATI Radeon 9800 Pro appearing twice.

    Hi,

    Hope you can help!

In (Win XP Home) device manager it states I have 9800 Pro.
Underneath it also states I have 9800 Pro secondary.

I have deselected the secondary device, then uninstalled it.
This is fine untill I reboot and the same problem occurs.

Its very frustrating as everything is refreshed twice.......

    What should I do.!!!!????

    Regards,

    Billy.

I have the same thing with a 9800PRO and a 9700PRO. It worked, so I assumed it was normal.

The secondary bit is if you are using dual displays.

It's normal for it to show up twice.

It's for the fact that the 9700/9800's have a d-sub + dvi port.

Surely its not normal to have the system refresh x2.
Could this be a WinXp problem!

    What Worked???

    Doubt it somehow.

    Not doing this...only one display.

Are you happy to have your system report x2 refresh rates everytime you select a seperate function from your installed program...im not!!!

    Couldn't be normal..

    Me Thinks

    drivers maybe installed twice.

Surely XP will inform on this problem.
    If not...then possibly incompatability issue?
Am I answering my own questions here or what!!!

You can't install the drivers twice, they over-write each other..
It's also entirely normal for it to install a primary and secondary display, regardless whether you're actually utilising dual displays or not..

    And chill the heck out!

Quick forum tip - try editing posts instead of repeatedly posting.

    Radeon Dual Display replies

Yea but if you go into System properties and Device Manager then select single display..should`nt this resolve the issue. Especially after blocking the second Pro option!!??
Do not Uninstall just disable the 2nd one.

    Well.
