    GPU cooler alternatives

Question! i've just got my hands on a new gpu, the msi gtx 670 with a reference cooler, i naturally want to change this cooler! I like the Twin Frozr II As i know its a good cooler but....will it actually fit my card? i noticed that the card itself is actually smaller in comparison to the gtx 580 i had...

    So any help suggestions??

    Re: GPU cooler alternatives

Heh, I looked quite in depth into this when I had that card. It would have been my solution other than it wouldn't have fitted in my mITX case with an aftermarket cooler.

I highly doubt that you'll find a Twin Frozr II that fits the reference PCB as they were all designed for 680 PCBs (IIRC). If you have 2.5-3 PCI slots available then the standard approach seems to be either an Arctic Accelero Mono Plus, while leaving the stock VRM heatsink in place. Or an Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo (requires switching the VRM heatisnks to the ones that come with the arctic, but nets a little more headroom on the core for overclocking).

The twin turbo quite dwarfs the card and looks a bit silly IMHO, personally I would have gone for the Mono had it fitted my case, depends on if you just want quiet or want to OC.

From a cursory google it appears that the Accelero Mono recently went EOL although arctic still list it. Many places still have it for ~£30.
There's a good guide in fitting it to this card here.
    Cheers!
