Is it stable in BIOS, ie before Windows has loaded? If it is, then it's probably a driver issue... Could also be your PSU I guess...
ive not had any problems with it in the bios at all, ive just formatted my disk and it was fine through the set up of windows, and ive not installed the ati drivers yet, still seems to be good so far.
but obviously im gonna have to install some drivers, is there anywhere i can look for bugs and stuff in the drivers on the ati site? some forums or something?
or has anyone got a decent place for stable drivers?
cheers
well, the catalysts from ati should be ur best bet really...
i recently had a very similar prob with my 9700 pro and this motherboard
my cure was going into the bios, disabling fast writes and there was also an option called agp 3.0 calibration (or a similar name) enabling that solved all my issues of power offs, screen going fuzzy,
(i was able to install windows perfectly aswell, it was only until i installed the gfx drivers that the prob came)
have a looksie in ur bios !!![]()
thx for that jimmy, but ive had a good look in my bios and cant see anything about agp 3.0.
ive just installed the omega drivers so ill see how it goes

ok, now all my windows fonts have gone....

anyone got any ideas on this thing, please?
Try a clean install of Windows? Fonts disappearing sounds like Windows has messed up somewhere...
i did that earlier today mate, it did it before the format too.
ive just took the heat sink off the card, the thermal pad looked a bit worse for wear, ive put some goo on it now so ill see.
its really begining to get up my nasal corridors now!
it runs games fine though, until its time to close the game down then crashes

Well, I don't know what to suggest...
You could try looking at this page, and see if you've got the right motherboard bios settings:
http://www.omegadrivers.net/mb_bios.php
But apart from that, I'm out of ideas...
im just going to try the older omega drivers out, the ones without the vpu recovery in them. but ill take a gander at that page, cheers mate

would installing SP2 solve this bl**dy problem?
ok, now ive got omega cats 3.0 installed, and everything is running ok now.
but ive got problems in doom3 as the drivers are that old.
does anyone know what the last version of the omega cats that didnt have the gpu recovery in them?
or any doom3 patches that will help out, im getting artifacts in the game and the peoples faces are missing, just plain white instead of having any details on them.
but the card runs other games fine, like nfsu2.
Sorry, this is probably a stupid question, but have you tried using the latest drivers and disabling VPU recovery in the control panel?
yes mate, it crashed it even more lol.
but these old ones seem to be ok.
could it be a conflict maybe with a windows component?
im a bit lost now though to what it actually is, ill try to get a beter cooler on it then see if thats what the prob is.
still baffled about doom3 though.
I could be I guess, but I wouldn't have a clue about how to solve it...
I've got a 9700 too and it works fine, except the screen gets garbled when I try to play games whilst connected to a network
