The X850 shows the smallest gain I've ever seen for a new card. Its a few % over a stock XT-PE, and slower than my overclock.

If I brought one and it didn't overclock as well, it could be slightly slower.

    Ah well.

putting 512meg of memory would have helped sell it?

That would be the only thing wanting to upgrade from my xt pe.

ATi have said that this isn't aimed at X800XT-PE users; its not really an upgrade, as it runs a few % faster, and as I said, if your current X800XT overclocks well, you could end up with a slower card if the X850 didn't overclock as well.

Its aimed at people still looking to upgrade, who couldn't get an X800XT-PE, because they were tricky to get hold of.

Am more likely to get a 6600gt AGP then any of the 6800/x800 series.

Aye and all those poor people who couldn't afford a x800xt pro
and have even more outdated cards must be really sad
Seriously it's only outdated when it doesn't do what you want, EVERYTHING in PC land is outdated by the time you can buy one, something bigger faster better is always just about to be released.

The X800XTPE seem likes just the PCI-E versions of the x800 series with a bit of a performance increase. There is no X800XTPE using PCI-E so I would say this card is natural for the new card interface format.

I for one am happy with my card and wouldn't give it up, considering how dam rare the PE is now
