    Dell Ultrasharp 2005fpw WIDESCREEN!

After finding out about the existence of these in America, I called up Dell UK.
Bought on the spot at 566 quid. Arriving tomorrow morning!!!

    Specs:
    20.1-inch, Wide Aspect (16:9), Active Matrix TFT, Midnight Gray, 1680x1050 Pixels, 300 cd/m² Brightness, 600:1 Contrast Ratio, 12ms response time, VGA / DVI-D / S-Video Connectors, 4 USB 2.0 Ports, 100 mm VESA Compliant

I'll be reviewing this as soon as it arrives! Or perhaps after a couple of days once I stop staring at it in awe.

    £560 ?

Id rather buy 2 19 inch TFTs !
well i already have 1 just need 1 more hehe spending £400 on an 8ms one from overclockers. I cant really justify 566 on a spare tft especially as the res is so weird and playing games wouldnt look as good !

when you hook up one of these do special widescreen resolutions become available in games?

look awesome. about time widescreen came to PC. give it a few years and I think almost all screens will be this way.

I've got a 23" (16:10) TFT that runs at 1920 x 1200 native. Modern stuff - HL2 for example - has this res but a lot of older stuff will only run at 1600 x 1200.

christ 1920x1200. you must need a beast of a gfx card to run games at native res.

hehe u would need a top of the range x800 coupled with a amd64 3800 at least. Anyone who says its playable in full detail at that res are sadly lying.Ill wait a bit longer till the tech matures enough and pc and cards get even more pwoerful ! im happy playing at 1280 with full details in all my games

I run HL2 at 1024 with full detail and 4xAA and 8xAF and it looks top notch. I can't imagine it would look that much greater at super high res. or would it!?!

Well... I run it at 1920 x 1200 with no AA or AF and it runs OK > 30fps most of the time, usually 50-60fps unless there's something very complicated going on. And I have a 128MB 9800 Pro (flashed to XT and running at 425 / 385), a Barton 2500+ (running at 2.3GHz at the mo) and 1GB of PC3200 (actually running at stock). For the indoor stuff / simpler scenes / maps I can actuallly run with AA and AF on (4x and 8x)... Other games are more of a problem though... Far Cry for example CHUGS at 1600 x 1200 (and it doesn't support 1920 x 1200 either). Thankfully things don't look that bad at lower res even though the image has to be scaled.

I thought so. I was looking at the 21.3 inch samsung LCD, but then I saw this one. The saleswoman was friendly and found me the best price she could do it for. Which ended up being 566

Unfortunately now my debit card is shattered, as I *had* to upgrade my 9800se aiw @ pro to a gigabyte x800pro (@xt)....

I feel bad about spending money now, I'll be very happy tomorrow though
