Question Suggestions for replacement for Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti

    Hi all,

Currently have an 1Gb ASus Nvidia GTX 560 Ti card and it's causing me lots of problems - occasional blank screen, drivers stop working, causes crashes. I've tried various different drivers and no luck, it used to work fine up until about a year ago. So now I want to just replace the thing with something that works.

So I was wondering what people would suggest as a replacement, I'm not looking for anything high spec, just something that will do the same job as the 560 but without crashing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Suggestions for replacement for Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti

Budget: up to £200 (but in the ~£100 range preferably). But really, whatever it costs to get a reasonable replacement for the 560, not looking at anything massively overspeced from that.

    PC:
    Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z768AP-D3
Processor: Intel Core i5 Quad 3.3GHz
    Ram: 8Gb Corsair DD3 vengeance
    Graphics: 1Gb Asus GTX 560TI
    PSU: 500W Corsair CMPSU-500CXUK
OS: Win 7 home premium 64bit

Re: Suggestions for replacement for Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti

This would be a massive upgrade:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/SAPPHIRE-AMD...eywords=R9+280

It should consume a tad less power overall than your GTX560TI.

If you are looking for cards with even lower power requirements:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Rad...eywords=R9+270

This one will be a bit slower than the R9 270 and consume a bit less power:

Re: Suggestions for replacement for Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti

I just bought the last of the MSI R9 280s that Scan had in stock, but there is still the XFX R9 280 Black edition available, it's a nice card and the cooler has been reviewed well.

Warranty only seems to be a year though but it is return to base.

The Sapphire 280 card as posted by CAT-THE-FIFTH looks to be a great deal too.

Your power supply unit will be capable of running an R9 280 just fine, however the GTX 760 from Nvidia can be had at around the £150 mark and consumes less power but at the cost of a small amount of performance. The 760 does afford you a couple of Nvidia exclusive features such as PhysX and Shadowplay.

Overall for that budget, I second a recommendation for an R9 280, the 280X starts at £180 and offers a small performance gain over the 280.

The main bonuses of the 280 over a 760 are increased performance, wider memory bandwidth, more VRAM, ability to use the Mantle API from AMD.
