Re: AMD Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta Driver for Windows out now
Hi Matt,
I am using R290 in crossfire with a Iiiyama 4k B2888 panel via Display port 1.2
I also have a LG 30" which I've tested via DVI-D.
When attempting to log in to Windows after this driver install, I get about five seconds of desktop and then black screen. This is not a hard lock, as sounds and functions are still available. Once I boot into safe mode and clear out the driver, every thing is working again. I can then install say 14.4 and have no problems.
EDIT: 14.9.1, 14.9 and 14.8 also fail.

Hi Saraya,
I have the same monitor as you.
Are you using msi afterburner by any chance?

Matt, I do and I had it running at first on the initial driver install. Obviously a mistake as those types of programs/scripts can cause issues. So I started fresh with it disabled both during and on boot. I still had the same problems.

Did you have it running any sort of overclock?
Can you provide me with a DXDIAG report and upload it to Sendspace and share the download link with me? I will then report your issue and get back to you here with more information as soon as possible. :)

OK it's on Sendspace, with file/xcand7 at the end

Matt, was there an update for this? I since stopped using the 4k screen. It still happens with my 30" LG. Seems like the driver crashes and blackscreens, then needs to be reinstalled.
Re: AMD Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta Driver for Windows out now
Hi Sarya,
Please try out latest driver which is 14.1.2 and see if that resolves your issue.
Do both cards work fine on their own?

Ok, keep me updated how you get on. :)
Re: AMD Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta Driver for Windows out now
Hi Matt,
It's something to do with voltages and 2d clocks/desktop. My custom voltage settings work with 14.4, but black screen with any thing newer than 14.6
I have had to bump the voltage in order to stop the black screens. So to be clear, if I use my normal voltage settings in game with 3d clocks, I have no problems - it's just loading into the desktop.
If you want my Afterburner profile/settings to compare and contrast your results using 14.4 vs anything later, then I can send those. I don't see why an incremental marginal change in drivers requires quite a bit more voltage (at desktop 2d clocks none the less).
Also, can you put in some feedback that we'd like to get 1600p resolution supported for the new VSR upscaling feature? We can't believe that 2560x1600 isn't available.

What are your custom voltage settings? As drivers get faster and make the card work harder, it's possible that if overclocking you may require a touch more voltage. If you require a touch more voltage at stock clocks and stock voltage then it's possible the card may be faulty. Of course if you can fix that by upping the voltage a notch, then it maybe worth doing that instead.
We intend to release a 'phase 2' driver with improved VSR capabilities supporting more cards and more resolutions in the not too distant future.
