Artefacts on my screen?

This is the first time it's happened, but now it won't go away. I'm getting weird artefacts all over my screen. Similar thing occurred when I used to overclock my 7850 beyond its potential, but this card isn't overclocked (apart from factory one).

Excuse the rubbish picture - sent my phone in to be 'repaired' and they've not sealed it properly and there's tonnes of dust in the camera lens. http://prntscr.com/5332ak

It could be the gpu having some problems, the monitor or the cable. Can you test it on a tv or another monitor?

Generally speaking that is heat related or possibly bad memory on the graphics card...
Very rarely is that sort of artefact repaired with BIOS/Firmware/Driver updates, but it might be worth researching in that area first just in case there is a known issue.

If the CPU in your profile is what you have now then you'll be able to test the onboard graphics and see whether the artefacts are still there. If they are then it could be a dodgy video cable.

If PC is dusty remove the card, blast some compressed air over the PCIe slot and reseat the graphics card. You could also just reseat graphics card in another slot if available.

Hopefully card is in warranty that you can send it back for repair if it turns out to be that.

It's dust free, so that's not the issue.

I recently got a new monitor and have started using DisplayPort. I do notice problems getting the display to work if I turn it on after my PC, and this requires me to turn off both and then turn on the monitor first.

I can't test my on board video as there's no DisplayPort on the back and I've recently set up my working area and can't easily remove the HDMI cable

Could be drivers, but likely a hardware problem. Clean out drivers, and uncheck any driver sources of instability like GPU acceleration of web pages.

I only recently did a complete re install of windows - I can't belive it'd be a driver issue. I'll re install them anyway, just seems unlikely (should have mentioned this before really )
