ASUS GTX 780 and ASUS GTX 780 Ti in SLI?

    Hi All

Need some advice on possible pitfalls of combining a ASUS GTX780 Ti with a ASUS GTX780 in SLI

I already have the 780Ti and l have an opportunity to pick up the 780 rather cheap.

Should l, or would l be downgrading performance

    Thanks

They won't SLI with standard drivers (the amount of streams differs between them), you might be able to hack something but not worth it IMO.

The only time I can remember different GPUs SLI'ing was in the 8800/9800 days and they were rebadges.

The best you will be able to do is use the 780Ti as the main GPU and the 780 as the Physx driver, you might be better off selling the 780 and getting a 780Ti so you can match up and then run SLi.

Re: ASUS GTX 780 and ASUS GTX 780 Ti in SLI?

Yes, you can, but you'll need a small utility to do it (DifferentSLIAuto)

The only thing that matters these days is that the architecture is the same on the two cards.

The faster card will run at the speed of the slowest one but otherwise, it's pretty easy: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/th...-cards.158907/

It's not really hacking the driver either, it's just adding a compatibility flag to the configuration files.

Of course, this isn't the official nVidia method, but they probably don't want the additional added support from configurations like this. It's much easier to say you must have two matching cards.
