flickering graphics on new 970 card.

hi all,

I seem to be having a strange issue with my new graphics card.

Everything is fine on DVI to my 20 inch dell monitor but the Display port connect to my Dell 27 inch monitor keeps flickering.

I've tried 2 display port cables but the same thing keeps happening.

I have the latest version of the nvidia drivers.

my previous card worked fine with the display port connection but with the new card I keep getting flickering.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

Duff card would be my first guess :(. The 970 doesn't seem to be the most bullet proof unfortunately judging from forum posts (though they always scale by popularity, so it's hard to accurately say). The Display port flicker can apparently be fixed with a new VBIOS for the card, but that usually has to be done by the manufacturer. See here:

I\'ve posted in the scan forum now as I got it from them hopefully I can get it fixed soon as its an annoying issue.

Are you using the Hotfix driver 344.80? That posting Kalniel linked to does suggest trying that, before updating the VBIOS.

I haven't installed the hot fix as I'm running the latest drivers which have been released since then so assumed it would have been incorporated...

Ah...I didn't realise 347.09 drivers are out. I'm sure you're right, then :)

Still might be worth giving them a try - sometimes hotfixes aren't rolled into main releases if they achieve the fix by compromising something else.

Just to add, NVIDIA drivers from 340 onwards have been nothing but trouble. I could get a +150MHz core clock on my Asus 760 on 330 drivers, but now I can't overclock at all without getting crashing, and even without overclocking I have endless crashing and problems (artifacting). Biggest issue is that 330 drivers render the card unusable for gaming at 1440p - frame rates decrease by more than what I can get if I overclocked (which adds heat and noise anyway).
