Far Cry 4 - computer froze. Only hard reset helps.

    Hello dear forum.
    First my pc:
    4790 stock
    8gb ram
    Sabertooth Z79 Mark2
    Asus Strix 980 ( Oc factory )
    Corsair 750 RM
    HDD 500GB SATAIII

So 5 days ago when playing Far Cry 4 my computer suddenly freezes with "BZZZZZ" sound.
( ctrl alt del and so on didn't work I had to pull the power and restart. )
    So only hard reset helps.
Question of course . Why i was had one single hard freez 5 days ago?

There is no any minidumps file to analyze. Minidump folder is empty. Watchdog folder ( TDR driver crash ) empty too without minidump file.

On windows event log i have this:
    Log Name: System
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    Event ID: 41
    Level: Critical
    Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

It can be game or something with hardware?

I can play other games just fine ,all just fine and stable without a single lock up once at all.

I run even Prime95 Blend for 10 hours, without errors.
I test Watchdogs for 2 hours , no crash.
I test Metro Last Light for 2 hours, no crash.
I test Unigine Valley for 1 hour, no crash.
    I test 3dmark 11 Extreme loop for 1 hour , no crash.

Also i dont OC my pc, all is stock.
I am using 334.75 WHQL drivers.

What you think that freeze was game\software or hardware related?
Like i say all is fine now, but i am worried about that one single freez ( only hard reset helps ) from 5 days ago.

    Thank you for any suggestion.

    Should i be worried?

The most strange that my freeze happened once, 5 days ago. I am now 100 hours in game ( Far Cry 4 of course ) and nothing happened again.

But i wrote on google and i did not saw any words mentioning about lock ups,but did see about freezes, but that is just the application freezes, they did not experience PC completely locked up.

It can be software or hardware problem?

Probably software. Some particular combination of draw call with graphics driver response while everything was going on. One frame in 36,000,000. I'd say you don't need to worry.

Surely this is a troll thread?

If someone is posting that their computer randomly crashed and the issue is not repeatable, either they shouldn't own a computer or are trolling.

    End of.

3rd topic by the OP about this that I've seen, maybe a language problem as he doesn't seem to want investigate further or accept the advice given.

Sorry, sew333, we can't magically find the answer you want to see.

Isn't the OP the same guy that blamed his Strix GTX 980 as the reason that his pirated and non-patched copy of Far Cry 4 wasn't running as it should?

Even that my problem can be the software itself that's causing this lock up? Sorry guys for problem but i am really really greatful for help.

    Yup.

sew33: you had one crash that you cannot repeat, ignore it. One bad apple does not mean you must cut down the orchard.

    Last question guys.

Somebody told me that:"you had a hard driver crash"

But i dont have any minidump file in Watchdog folder. So it cannot be a driver crash if i dont have any minidump in watchdog folder, then?

Re: Far Cry 4 - computer froze. Only hard reset helps.

You brought up the Watchdog folder after I (on another forum) suggested that your initial description might have been a TDR error.

I gave you a link that had a large amount of suggestions about troubleshooting, from cleaning out dust and checking fans were working (I also suggested you check connections) to uninstalling drivers, log checking etc. Many of these are generic steps, they will help find any little problems that might be involved.

You seemed to take 5 minutes looking at the bare details of a TDR and went no further.

Forget it, you've had no further problems, play games

Re: Far Cry 4 - computer froze. Only hard reset helps.

    Last question.

Somebody told me that "If software caused a crash, then it appears in the event logs"
But i dont have any messages in event logs after that hard freeze.
There is nothing about app crash.

On windows event log i have this only:
    Log Name: System
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    Event ID: 41
    Level: Critical
    Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

So it can be something with hardware then? What you think?

Re: Far Cry 4 - computer froze. Only hard reset helps.

Yes, it could be hardware, I suggested checking wiring connections. someone else said you might have bumped it.

It could be anything - it's a one-time freeze - no pattern to work with.

    Forget it and play!

    Sew33,

You have started two threads here, both about the same issue. It also appears you have started a similar thread on another forum.

You have had a lot of help, ranging from upgrading the game to requests for more info.

If this is a random one off event, then it is probably just that, a random one off.

If there are other issues, then you need to get the latest patche's from the game, as others have suggested. If that doesn't work then check for the most recent card drivers. However, if you are using a mainstream card, those drivers may be updated automatically.

Last question. So that hardlock can be caused by game too? Not always by hardware?

Hardware, software, virus, dust, vibration ... yes.
