    6600gt v x700

having seen the difference that SLI makes on most games (pretty much none without AA which is something the 6600gt is bad at)
i have decided to not bother with SLI

so now i need to either get the 6600gt or search for a card that will out do it

im looking to play games mostly hl2 and its source conversions, but also doom3 stalker (mabye) and i have yet to play farcry

can someone give me just a run down of which card is better and some of the variants that could save me money out of 6600gt and x700pro/xt

    thanks alot

I think the 6600GT is the better card. But don't quote me on that.

    I assume this is PCI-Express?

If it is, then I would probably say the 6600GT is the better card against the X700 - the 6600GT has things like Shader Model 3, and is pretty close to the X700 in most benchmarks, although you can't really go wrong with either.

For £200 (£175 from LOW) you could for a vanilla 6800, which should provide a reasonable boost from a 6600GT - not huge, but then again not a huge price increase.

    right
after pouring over those reviews i have one last question(i think), does the XFX require pci e connectors from the power supply? as the review says it runs the fan of the card itself im guessing thats a no, but just checking
    more importantly.......

will SLI XFX 6600gts ever require pci e connectors?

i am looking at a Enermax noise taker 370w psu as my power source, for a nforce 4 SLI deluxe and 3000+ A64

    thanks very much
