GPU Hardware Issue of Driver Problem?

    Hi all,

I purchased a new GPU a while back, a Sapphire R9 280X based on recommendations from here. Since installing it I have noticed a couple of minor glitches in games that I didn't have before, like Minecraft where a little box of messed up pixels would appear, nothing too serious I couldn't play. I took no notice of it.

Now I have been playing GTA V a lot, I fear these glitches are getting more frequent, and are often making the game unplayable. Here are a couple of images I have taken recently, and these ones aren't the worst!

At first I thought it could be a driver issue, now I have updated to the latest BETA drivers which are designed for GTA V improvements, but it's made no difference. Once this starts, the only way to stop it is to restart the game, sometimes the computer.

I ran a temperature monitoring program, the card didn't go over 65°C. It's also relatively clean and has good air flow to it. I don't think it's any other piece of hardware, I never had problems like this with my GTX 560 Ti.

Any ideas what it could be?

Do you have MSAA enabled? I remember reading there's an as-yet unsolved problem with that causing graphical glitches.

Also is anything overclocked? That's sometimes a good place to check i.e. run it for a while at stock to see if anything improves. Even stress-test stable overclocks can cause strange issues at non-max p-states.

Should have mentioned, no overclocking in my system at all. I used to run the CPU overclocked, but it got reset when I rebuilt it and I hadn't bothered to overclock it again.

MSAA? Not sure, I will check when back home. But it's not just this game, it happens in Minecraft as well. Those are really the only games I have played for some time since I bought this card in Dec.

You could run something like OCCT on the graphics card to check for errors, and maybe re-seating the card in the PCIe slot.

Does anything show up in event viewer that could be related?

Nothing related in event viewer. MSAA was not enabled, but FXAA was, so I disabled that as a test and didn't have any issues last night.

Will run OCCT and see if it picks anything up. Cheers!
