I am not really up with the quickest card in this range. Not had to look at sub £50 cards for a while. Need one for a PC I am building.
I think a used Ti4200 or 4600 would be best. Not sure if I have time to look for one.

Is it going to be used for 3D applications at all? If not, and you find the system you're building has some form of on-board graphics, then you may want to consider simply using that.
It is. That's why I am after a reasonable card for the money. Not expecting to run any recent stuff just the basic 3D games. I just wanted to know what card was fastest for the money that's all.
Does anyone know if the Retek ones are the 256bit L shaped memory ones that can possibly be softmodded?
Last I heard, soft-moddable 9500s were pretty rare if not non-existant, so I would imagine you'd be lucky to find one unless anyone knows otherwise. Even then, the 9500 isn't too bad at all for that kind of money. :)
My Retek 9500 softmodded fine. I don't know where they get them from, but AFAIK all the 9500s they sell are the 256Bit memory bus type ones (L-shaped mem arrangement)- you can softmod either type, but only the 256Bit cards turn into a proper 9700 if it works. The in-line memory type becomes a 9500Pro.
