    Who has an SLI then?

I have to admit that when these where first announced I was instantly extremely interested in how this would turn out. Thanks to Rysard's excellent indepth coverage I have to admit i'm now slightly sceptical i want to go this route.

The main thing that makes me say this is the processor this was all tested on was a hugely expensive and from how i read it absolutely neccessary to get the best out of the cards, and while I could afford to buy a system with two 6800 ultras if i saw fit. I don't currently feel that its the best solution.

I'm struggling to bring myself to comprehend having to switch the graphics modes between AFR and SFR to get the best performance out of the system. (and the hassle of a reboot to match)

Now while I say that i'm utterly tempted by amd socket 939 and i'm wondering if this is what is driving my interest. So have we got anyone who actually has a SLI motherboard with some graphics cards running that can share their experience of it yet?.

I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

    Choice 1: SLI
--Buy 2 cards today that outperform everything

    Choice 2: Not SLI
--Buy one card today that performs well; Buy another card in a year (hell, probably 6 months) that performs better than Choice 1

Cost of Choice 1=Cost of Choice 2
