    £184.99

A 6800 can play doom 3 on ultra high settings as it was designed with Nvidia cards in mind. A 6800 can also have its pipes unlocked with software called Rivatuner, making it better than it is. But as you said, it doesn't have 256 MB so sod that.

If you don't mind going slighlt over budget you can get a 6800GT for £274.99 :

The 6800GT has the full 16 pipes and 6 verts like the best cards out there e.g the ones that r over the 300quid mark. The x800 pro would also be good enough to play games on ultra settings, but u need a good sytem with ample proccessing speed and ram to match the demanding games u wanna play.

If you could squeeze an extra £20 , a 6800GT would fit your requirements nicely, and probably last a few years to boot.

Personally, I'd for a X800. Something inherently nasty about Nvidia.

    IMHO 6800GT > X800 Pro
    and X800 XT PE > 6800 Ultra

So that means get the 6800GT (although it's slightly outside your budget).
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

He does have a point david - GT does perform better and can be had for 236 or so from pcworldcomponentcentre.co.uk - there's something inherently nasty about both Nvidia and ATI, so I'd just recommend the best value for your budget - the GT

I wasn't saying that the GT is or isn't better is terms of price / performance, I was simply asking him if he was a chav kid. From the way he writes, you have to wonder.

    Google.

People should try it some time. Tells you all you know about any 'nastiness' associated with Nvidia, their card and their marketing.

Saves me have to do Education 101.
