    Coil Whine

I recently bought a MSI TF3 HD7950, actually I bought two second hand. They were both the same revision, however one PCB was a darker "chocolate colour than the other. The lighter coloured PCB has coil whine under load. I am sure I am not the only one with this issue and was wondering if anyone has found a solution. FYI - in my rig I can't actually here it, but I know it is there and tht is the real issue I suppose.

    Re: Coil Whine

If the board is a lighter colour, it may have had a different type of conformal coating. If you can't here it, it isn't a problem!

However, if it bothers you, try painting the offending coil with varnish - at your own risk of course.

Hi Peterb. You raise a very valid point and I sort of indicated to myself anyway. If I can't hear it, then I should bother with it.
Definitely do not trust myself with Varnish. How would I locate the coil anyway.

Should I use clear or stainedd varnish.

Liquid insulating tape also works a treat.

Ear horn (or a tube of rolled up paper)
