Samsung announces 0 dead pixel policy!

Samsung Electronics announced Thursday that from Jan. 1, customers who discover defective pixels on an LCD monitor produced by the company less than six months after its purchase may have the panel replaced free of charge.
An LCD monitor is made up of hundreds of thousands of tiny pixels. Manufacturers have classified products with 10 or less defective pixels as "normal" and refused to repair or exchange them, which led to complaints from customers. Samsung added, however, that the free exchanges do not apply to customers who purchased their LCD monitors before Jan. 1.

Now that's good news, I'm looking hard at one of these but have allways been put off by the risk of dead pixels when bought online, and the high prices instore, good old samsung.

Me too. I failed to see why small defect were acceptable on TFT monitors, when you'd never stand for it on anything else? A small scratch or defect on something else and back it goes, but we were expected to put up with defect on these.

Its a good move and hopefully the end of a rip-off situation.

Finally, I can actually buy a TFT which they recognise as faulty and replace it. Not fob me off with some stupid idea that selling a TFT with a few faulty pixels is acceptable.

Awesome! Thank you Samsung, i'll probably no doubt be buying one of their monitors then, dead pixels really put me off buying a TFT, i couldnt live with one in the center

Great news there, its about time really!

I really hope that laptop manufacturers follow suit on this one. I have an acer laptop that has 3 dead pixels - dam annoying!!

i have a stuck pixel on my 172x(it appears blue on a black background, but can produce white and a whole range of other colours fine...)
