    4k gfx card options

my 5850 is on its last legs and needs to be replaced for a new 4k gfx card to work with a new tv with hdmi 2.0

now i still want to run 3-4 monitors from it as well as a 4k tv from 1 card is there any that will do this?

i also have only 1 16x pcie slot so two cards not a option.

    Re: 4k gfx card options

According to NVIDIA, even for the Titan X "Max of 4 displays can be used simultaneously (3 if monitors are 4K)"

    http://www.geforce.com/hardware/tech...m-requirements

I ran 4K + 2 x 1080p from a 760, so 3 is certainly possible on NVIDIA but I doubt four would work. You could potentially run a fourth via USB or similar if it's vital?

    Not sure about AMD.

    Re: 4k gfx card options

Sounds ambitious. I'd have a look at some manuals for graphics cards online, they usually have tables showing what your options are.

Worst case scenario, I imagine you could run them one at time, i.e. disabling / unplugging one set and switching to the other.

    Re: 4k gfx card options

yeah 1 at a time is a option or just get another rig just for the 4k tv looking a cheaper option.

Not likely to be a good idea, no.

    Re: 4k gfx card options

Did you buy displayport monitors for your SLS (eyefinity) setup? If so then you can pick up a DisplayPort MST hub so the three monitors can be run off a single DisplayPort output on the card.

Alternatively, the first DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapters have recently been announced so if you're in no great hurry for the TV you could get one of them and drive the it off a DisplayPort socket.

The Fire cards are the same hardware so while I haven't seen a recent driver comparison performance should be similar. £850 for an R9 290 or £2,600 for an R9 290X are very high prices though. Cheaper to buy a new motherboard with more expansion slots and a slightly larger case.

    Re: 4k gfx card options

Fury X isn't a bad choice. I know it lacks the HDMI 2.0 you need but you could get something like (amazon.co.uk)/Resolution-VicTsing-Thunderbolt-DisplayPort-Microsoft/dp/B00KNQDCRO/ (can't post links :c) and a Mini-DP to DP adapter to connect to the TV. Only 30hz though. Other option would be any Maxwell (9xx) series card from NVidia, for 4k probably either 2x980 or 2x980Ti if you'll be cranking up the settings too.
