    AMD Crimson Driver

Anyone else found the crimson driver / package to be garbage?

Used the AMD driver cleaner util to remove all the old stuff before installing the new one but had trouble getting the crimson package to install.

Several times had it completely lock up the PC during installation that required a very hard reboot.

Every time I shut down or restart the PC I get an application fatal error in cnext.exe (after searching this seems to be related to the CCC slim that they use for some of the settings).

Possibly caused by the above, it doesn't remember my desktop gamma setting on restart or boot (that setting is in the CCC slim console rather the fancy new one).

Had hoped the quality of the driver package was going to improve but it seems in the most basic ways to be worse than what they had before (game performance might be better but it shouldn't make using the desktop a more painful experience!)

    Get it together AMD!

I didn't bother with the driver cleaner, just installed it and it worked OK. That's on an R9 285 2GB.

Working great for me on a 7990. Made the XFire frame timings a fair bit better - microstutter is almost completely gone now. Also looks pretty sleek too, just sad that to access some of the more advanced settings it just opens the old version of CCP

    Re: AMD Crimson Driver

I did an over the top, drivers only install (not had CCC installed for years), installed just as quick as the older drivers, no difference felt in the couple of games I tried it out on.
