Need opinion on gtx 950

Slightly cut down 960, so looks quite good value compared to the 960.

However, last time I looked Novatech had a 2GB R9 380 for £120 which is far better value.

The 2GB of memory and lack of adaptive sync support mean that the only situation I'd go for it as a gaming card over the 370 is if you'd be affected by the performance issues AMD's drivers have with slow CPUs. It doesn't even have lower power consumption unlike the rest of the range.

The 370 doesn't fully support adaptive sync.

The 950 does seem an OK choice for a SteamOS/Linux box if you don't care about the lack of open source Nvidia drivers for 9xx series cards.

It would be good to know what you are using it for, the 950 isn't bad, and should run most games at low-medium settings depending on your CPU and resolution, but we need to know abit more info to give a better insight.

I guess you want to game if you are getting a card like that. It really depends on what you are doing, gaming preferences. Valve games, l4d2 etc will be a breeze on medium 1920x1080 for example.

960 or 380 you mean. The 380X is above the price bracket of those two cards plus it's considered a rather bad value (compared to 380 or 390).

The GTX950 is not that bad - its around R9 270X level performance IIRC. However,I would probably consider the GTX960 and R9 380 especially since they do not cost much more.

Does the 950 has the h265 decoder? Like fully supported?

It's adequate for 1080p gaming (just imo) but if you can stretch to it get a 960.

I have a PC and my CPU is AMD A10 5800k and I planning to buy a GTX 950 nxt month. Will my cpu bottleneck the gtx 950 or it will be fine?
