ATI Card with Pinnacle studio 8

    Hi,

I have an ATI All in wonder which came with the adapter to convert the 12 pin "vid in" to S-video, composite, L and R audio. The problem I have is that Pinnacle has a video and audio configuration to import the film/sound. It finds my ATI card under video and Soundblaster for sound. The problem I have is I need the ATI to do both as I know it can! Has anyone managed to get audio working in this situation?

    Thanks

I have managed to get audio working when I had an analogue camera with an AIW. (If you can afford it go digital its so much easier and better quality)

All you have to do is double-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar icon tray thing, and click options>properties>recording>ok. You will then see loads of inputs but only one can be selected at a time. To get the ati thing to work select the line in or microphone one (I cant remember which one it is so trial and error will have to occur here - it could be a different one)

Then go back to playback (options>properties>playback>ok) and make sure everything is not muted.

If the speaker icon isnt there it will be in the control panel.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Timmy
Do you mean in the ATI settings? The 2 icons in control panel are for Sounds and audio devices and Audio HQ which is for my soundblaster card. I have tried looking for what you said with no luck!

It is the icon that looks like a loudspeaker. It is a standard windows thing so it will not be the Audio HQ. If you hover your mouse over the icon it will say volume. Double click on that.

Then go to the options tab and click on properties, select playback and press ok, then use trial and error to see which input your ATI card is attached to. It is usually the line in or microphone connection.

Or in the control panel double click on sounds, speech and audio devices and select advanced for device volume, here will be the volume control where you go options, advanced etc...

    Timmy.
Thanks for your help. Have tried what you have suggested but cannot get sound to be captured via the ATI card. Thanks for your help. I will just have to buy a 3.5mm jack to Left and Right phono lead to capture the sound through my soundblaster card.

    Thanks again

Sorry to hear that didnt work. You can get those jacks really cheaply so its not too bad if you do. I wonder what it is then?

    Timmy.
Yea, a bit of a bummer but there you go!
I haven't looked inside the case yet but isn't there a wire going from the graphics to the sound card?
Thanks for your help. I will get one of those 3.5mm jacks with the 2 phono's coming out and get sound via the soundblaster (hopefully!)
