Question Worth selling a titan GTX (not black/X)?

I´ve just built a new skylake system. Nothing too crazy, i5-6500, 16gig 2400 ram, Asus Z170 pro gaming, 250gig samsung 850. I had been planning to keep my previous Radeon R270X and upgrade it later.

My brother works in technology distribution, heard about my plans, so for christmas I received a gen 1 MSI titan gtx (6gig). It had apparently been sitting on their shelves unsold for some time, so he got it very very marked down. It is working very nicely in my new system.

But it is complete overkill. I only game at 1080p, and don´t do anything where double precision would be useful. It feels like it would be better to sell it on to someone that would actually get some use out of a Titan, and put the money towards a more appropriate card.

I can´t find anyone selling original titans, so don´t know what it might be worth. It would be cool to be able to essentially swap one for a 970 and money for a 14nm card. But probably not worth it if I end up with just a performance equivalent card.

    Worth trying?

If you're going to try, then sooner rather than later. But bearing in mind the second hand+sitting on shelf factor vs cost of a new card you might not end up with anything better.

I think the meagre financial gain wouldn't be worth the fuss, keep the Titan.

Maybe even run F@H on it, it's good for well over 450k PPD.

I think £500 for a second hand Titan would be rather optimistic.

Looking on ebay sold listings it appears the going price is about £300-350:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...Condition=3000

That's impressive given the 780ti is going for closer to £200.

I wouldn't have said a Titan was particularly excessive for 2560x1080 or even 1920x1080. The most demanding games out there will show a noticeable difference in performance on top settings between a 270X and a Titan.

For example on 1920x1080 High, The Witcher 3 runs at 25fps on a 270X and 46fps on a Titan:

That's the different between a playable experience and a brilliant one.

Unless you only play the less demanding games I'd keep it.

I only have a 3GB 780, so someone like me might well buy it, even just as an interim card.
