So, how hot can these things go before it becomes dangerous? I'm just wondering since mine reaches 75C while gaming... :shocked2:

aren't they supposed to throttle?
yep, they should.
They are fine well over 100'deg. Infact, they'll only start to throttle at 127deg, so your fine.

You should use it as a very expensive kettle... It would boil your water at least :P
Seriously.. Isnt it a bit dangerous to have 100C things in a computer?? Cant it melt the silicone or un-solder something?
Silicone has a melting point of about 1,400'C so unless you've got a mental overclock it should be OK :)Quote:

Just to pee you all off, mi 6800 (vanilla tho) at 375 / 800 neva reached more than 52*c with the NV5 attached! nice???
anyway with the stock gainward hsf, it was idling at 60 ish!!!
ive heard they shut down at 135, or their thermal limit is 135! w/e!
I wanted to stick a quieter heatsink on mine but thee is none that cools as well as the stock cooler from nvidia...
i thought the nv5 was both quieter and cooler than the stock HSF?
