Thermal limit on a 6800 ultra?

So, how hot can these things go before it becomes dangerous? I'm just wondering since mine reaches 75C while gaming...

    yep, they should.
They are fine well over 100'deg. Infact, they'll only start to throttle at 127deg, so your fine.

You should use it as a very expensive kettle... It would boil your water at least

Seriously.. Isnt it a bit dangerous to have 100C things in a computer?? Cant it melt the silicone or un-solder something?

Silicone has a melting point of about 1,400'C so unless you've got a mental overclock it should be OK

The bigger problem is the material used to bond the core to its packaging, but obviously nVidia accounted for that.

Well my 6800GT @ Ultra speeds gets up to 85C and I've had no problems. I'll get an Arctic Cooler for it sometime when i get around to it.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
