my 6800gt card temperature is 70c

hi, when i was playing a 3d game. i looked at display properties, it says ambient temperature 52c, core temperature 74c...

i can't believe it, is that really that high??

is the card's internal sensor reliable?

    Thanks a lot!

I have it at around 68 degrees when playing games, but mine is in a shuttle
anything above 90 degrees i think is when it starts getting dangerous...

thats fine they are good till about 130

however having it at such high temps constantly will probably reduced the lifetime of the card,

try an arctic cooler NV5 and see if that does it any better (if you dont care tto much about your warranty!)

    Good Luck

I would say anything under 90 is totally acceptable!

mine reaches up to 85C with an NV5 installed
somehow the nv5 didnt seem to perform up to the '10C cooler' than stock HSF, for me it was only around 3~4C but it is much much much much quieter
