    Too many frames a second

If any of you are using powerful ATI cards (together with Catalyst Control Centre) and getting more than 60 frames per second in your favourite games...

...there is an alternative to letting all of those yummy extra frames a second go to waste...

...you could use the power of your card to get extra image quality !

We have a feature called Temporal Anti Aliasing (cue 2001 )

Basically, you enable this is the Control Centre and then - when you have more than 60fps in a game - it will automatically kick in and effectively double your Anti Aliasing level

It does this by using the extra horsepower available to vary the sampling pattern used by the AA engine

Varying the pattern makes all of the lines smoother because the eye still has the first pattern on the retina when the second one arrives

Natural interpolation occurs and the perceived image quality increases

Given that many users have TFT panels that will max out at 1280x1024 - and 60fps can be reached in a number of games at that resolution - it is worth turning Temporal Anti Aliasing on and enjoying the extra quality !

As far as I am aware, this technology is unique to us within the industry

The world can't always be about speed-speed-speed...

...as certain chip manufacturers have already discovered (you know who you are )

Also, we are big on customer choice - so you can have the additional frames or increase the image quality...

    ...never a bad thing !

I get about 150 fps in COD but to do some of the jumps you need a minimum of 125 so i need the high fps.

Yes i would prefer better IQ but i have to go for high fps

Well.. He did give you some info...

He changed your quote to say "ATI x" which obviously is the name..

    AND
"ATI does not comment on future product releases"
Means that there IS something actually coming that is like SLI..

This won't help anyone specifically, but I can tell you that since I programmed my first system 28 years ago, the one constant in this industry is 'real power up - relative price down'

If any of you need to make a purchase immediately - then you pick the product that you feel is best for you now

If you can afford to wait - then I can guarantee you that at some stage you will get 'real power up - relative price down'

That is not a secret - I am not breaking any embargoes - but it does make it very difficult to take your 'wallet' into your hands and actually execute a purchase

This is one of the downsides to being on the Hexus forum

It means that you (dear reader) are interested in technology, you have access to reviews of all the latest products way before they hit the shops...

...PLUS (and this is a big plus) you can potentially get buying advice not only from Hexus In-House Massive - but also any one of the 320,000 people who visit the site each month and get the 'invitation to comment' at the end of each review

Sorry to say that - for the people reading this - buying decisions are much harder than for the average punter

Your family and friends can make a 'one stop shop' to your house/phone/in-box and get some great advice from you...

...but you folks know too much about how the market works - how much R&D is going on - and what products are coming next to be able to buy in such a simple way

'Real power up - relative price down' is all I can say about ATI future products

Outside of that axiom... our stock answer is that we don't comment on future products... sorry
