    The R7 270X is faster.

Be very cautious about generic benchmarks like that which represent nothing in particular. Performance in real world applications can be quite different.

Especially for the sort of very niche application you have in mind. If you're looking at so much GPU power I guess you're using MadVR or something similar for post-processing? You wouldn't normally buy a card anywhere near that powerful for video uses.

You definitely want to see how those benchmarks compare to specific benchmarks in your subject areas (for cards in the same range if at all possible).

It's also worth pointing out that the RX 460 being released tomorrow should have similar performance but lower power consumption and all sorts of new features that are important for many HTPCs such as HEVC decoding and HDMI 2.0 output.

Those sites are indeed generally fairly useless, but since R9 270X and R7 370 are both Pitcairn cards, the sites which list specs are actually somewhat useful in this case. Although looking for both cards on the Wikipedia would get you similar info.

    http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index...radeon-r9-270x

That for instance more or less lists the specs. So R7-370 is HD7850 follow up, R9-270X is a HD7870 follow up.

    A site like
    http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-270X-vs-Radeon-R7-370
is less useful as it doesn't list the specs, and seems to base the score on averages of benchmarks which appear to be using older drivers. Certainly the 3DMark scores are totally untrustworthy.
