eGPU via mini PCI-E on a gigabyte laptop (P2742)

Hi!
would like to know how effective is having a eGPU setup for my Gigabyte p2742

specs are as follows
i7 3rd gen
8 gigs of ram
2 gb 660m
i have a ssd for windows and a 750gb for media

i'd be grateful just to have a decent 1080p out put

hoping to use this -Laptop External Independent Video Card Dock Mini PCI-E
which is on ebay.

i'm just wondering about the portability possibility as this is my office/ my personal pc.

Q1- can the display on laptop be used for video out put,
Q2- what complications will i face, with the mini pci-e port connected to the ssd or Wlan port.

It's impossible to say with much with certainty on this subject because a lot of things have to come together for such a setup to work well, from what I gather on other forums the only way to know is to actually try.

On some machines its possible to use the laptop display, but again a lot of things have to come together, much of which will be out of your control such as the hardware configuration and BIOS of the laptop.

The complications;

- It won't work
- It won't work reliably
- mini PCIe slots aren't designed for many mating cycles and are relatively fragile
- The mini PCIe slot only has a single PCIe 2.0 x1 lane, I'd make a guess that you'd lose 20-50% performance on a GTX 980 class card.
- Many, many, more things.

My advice is unless you're willing to be adventurous and take it on the chin if this all fails, or someone else has success with the very same laptop you have; don't bother.
