Do a little belated review for us. With benchmarks etc...
Must have one helluva case to fit that in :p
cool :) my mate has the 5500 with 2 chips but that one's quite a beast :)
mmmm... 4 gpus... Does it run any up-to-date games decently?
3dm 2000?
can`t give a link anymore but it did get near 10,000
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=3384486
thats for 3dm 2k1
will try and dig out some UT99 picies of 8x RGSS FSAA
wow that must be worth a mint now as a collectors item, as they never went into full production did they?
I was after one around the time but 3DFX went titsup before i could get my grubby little mits on it.
Yeha whats it like with current games? examples?Quote:

Heres some quick benches with it running Q3A - http://www.geocities.com/tnaw_xtennis/NV20-4.htm
It only just manages playable framerates 1280x1024x32 with 2x AA, but you can imagine the uproar it created, when the top end card at the time was a GF2 Ultra which couldnt even manage that at 1024x768
it doesn`t play modern games at all well - if at all
why?
well - for one - it doesn`t work in a motherboard newer than a KT333 - the agp slot design changed after that , and as the card is an AGP 2x only card - it just won`t fit!!
and drivers - the only drivers are 3rd party ones , and even with teh source code , there is only so much they (3dfxzone.it) can do with it - it IS old now , but with an AXP 3000 - it does make a kick a$$ UT99 rig :D
woo! a real 6000!
THAT's a card & a half. well, a card and 6 halves.
I want it - fancy swapping it for a 6800ultra? :)
stick it in a rig and crank up GPL - a game made for Glide :)
:o David you must REALLY want that voodoo card and a piece of history to want to SWAP it for a 6800U based card.Quote:

thanks for the offer of the 6800U - but i allready have one ;)
its a rev 2700 - 2 revisions before the rev 3700a final ; mine has had the power rework , so it does work properly :D
on the card , on the left hand side - what looks like the tv out? - its actually a power port!!
that box is an external pwer pack for it - as it draws something like 90watts , at the time psu`s wern`t up to the job.
of course now they are - so , i`ve added the internal hook ups to it!
if you look on the pcb , you`ll see 2 sets of 4 `dots` - those are the internal power hook ups , i tracked down the company that made the original component for 3dfx and bought some , then soldered them in and voila , all works on internal power now.
In total they made something like 250 - from alpha silicon (and the 2 , infamous ` square` boards which can`t work - as they have no traces to the cores!!) to the 50 or so rev 3700`s
BUT , they never made it into retail!!
mine even has the white inner box - it didn`t come with the outer `face` cover , twas a shame but i didn`t get one of those.
oh and did you all know , that there is several working `daytona` cards - thats the vsa 101 with DDR ram? and there are even 3 working `spectre` boards , those are the the board name for the rampage chip - the DX8 part from 3dfx , and 1 even has the SAGE chip ; thats teh DX8 TnL engine.
I am really really interested in this - was it the Intel based or the other chip?
