My gigabyte 6600gt is about the same as those temps as well. I'm waiting on a good quiet cooling solution as its upped my case temps making fans and psu and everyting a bit louder, and that annoys me.

These are having good reports right now and their meant to be quite quiet. I dont know if that will fit a 6600gt card tho. If it does ill consider getting one.

I don't think they do but in another thread someone said one is coming out early february so not too long to wait. Ideally I'd get one of those zalman ones but they're a bit pricey, well happy with my 7000cu cpu cooler though.

My XFX 6600GT 128 AGP also runs Windows at around 58 degrees C and probably peaked at 99 degrees C after a panicked fire-fight in the Far Cry carrier.

The new XFX fan seems noisy even in Windows, making a constant whooshing noise rather than any clicking or whining.

    Is 58 degrees C normal?

Well after reading that im not the only one with those temps im assuming its normal. However im not happy with that amount of heat especially if it will hit 99 degrees, that seems a little crazy to me. Ill be changing to an Artic cooler in a couple of months. Their supposed to be quiet(er) aswell.

My HDD runs at 44 degrees C so maybe 58 is fine.

No doubt I'll need a new case with better cooling after I replace the P4 2.4 Northwood with the P4 3.2 Prescott. The price of this upgrade just keeps climbing
