Question The AMD RX480 for VR

I am start to price up a new gaming / VR rig. So the big question do I go for the RX480 (4GB) or (8GB) is there a big benefit if using for VR such as the HTC or OC RIFT going with 8GB? (I have also heard you can flash a 4GB to be 8GB? Ture?)

Don't think you can flash the 4GB to 8GB any more, it was just the early stock before the 4GB cards were really ready. For the price difference I'd look at the 8GB (the VRAM is also clocked higher I believe).

If you're going to be spending the money on a Rift or Vive, I'd go for at least an 8GB RX480 or if you can swing it, a GTX1070.

Re: The AMD RX480 for VR

Apparently according to some tests by HardOCP,the GTX1060 has better support for VR in game engines such as UE4(which have NV tech baked into it). However, from what I gather,AMD is starting to get better support now(Croteam has incorporated AMD tech into Serious Sam VR).

OTH,VR does seem to be rather taxing and perhaps a GTX1070 or a Vega based card might be a better choice.
