    Whats the difference between....

What is the difference between the leadtek winfast AD400TDH 6800 GT (http://www.leadtek.nl/nts/uk/product...eid=127&tab=_2) and the leadtek winfast PX6800 GT (http://www.leadtek.nl/nts/uk/product...eid=163&tab=_2)

They look like exactley the same cards to me... am I missing something. 6800 GT cards are really hard to track down at the moment for Pci-E... found an XFX card but heard that they arent the best build quality for the price.

What are you trying to link to?

The 2nd link is to a 6800 non-GT card. There doesn't appear to be any GT cards in the PX6800 series - which are also all PCI-E cards.

LOL. Don't worry about it mate. The model numbers used by manufacturers are enough to confuse Einstein.

Just be aware that some the Leadtek cards are hybrids of the offical specs - from memory (though I could be wrong), some of the Leadtek GTs might not be an offical GT specs - DDR1 v GDDR3 etc. Can't remember where I read this - might be on these forums or as a result of a Google. Guru3d.com, HardOCP forums, and Hexus forum search might be good places to look.

Actually Leadtek, along with a bunch of others (Dell were first in their own machines) issued cards that were misleadly called GT OEM. These are now called GTO, and anyone still selling them as GT should be shot.

Essentially they have 256Mb DDR3 (unlike the 6800 vanilla) but are clocked lower, and have 12 pipelines instead of 16 and one less vertex shader. I think these could easily be taken to over stock GT levels using RivaTuner and a 3rd party cooler, but the price being charged is too close to a GT to make it worth the hassle and the probable lower end result.

If the prices came down to something more sensible (and I think they will, because I cannot see anyone knowingly buy them at present) then these would probably be a good buy.

Man... just as you think you have it all figured, you realise you dont! I'm too busy at the moment to be able to really sit down and go over my options again for figuring out what card to get. I know I want a 6800 GT, but now I'm unsure what kind of thing to look out for, and I'm still unsure of whats brands are good. I found an XFX one in stock on the net, but no other brands a the moment... wanted to have it this weekend.

    Anyone give me any advice?

XFX is good, lots of people recommend it. If you want it now then I don't think the XFX will disappoint.

I've heard a lot of them have been shoddy with some people reporting bad soldering on fans and such... I'm guessing those people didnt spend over £300 on a gfx card though!
