    GTX1080 or not

just wondering if its worth getting a second GTX1080 for sli, I am currently using 3x acer 120hz NVidia 3D monitors @ 1920x1080
would a second card be overkill ? although I am looking at getting a single new monitor later when the 4K 144hz g-sync monitors are avavilable.
    thanks

    Re: GTX1080 or not

For gaming, I generally favour single cards as there are so many games that either don't support or are too fussy about SLI/Xfire and I can't be bottomed with messing about remembering when to turn it on and off all the time.

Multi-card scaling is a bit hit and miss nowadays. It might be worth waiting and seeing how the GTX1080TI pans out TBH.

    Re: GTX1080 or not

I run an upgrade pattern - buy a card and use it as is for a year or 2, then another and use them for another year or 2, then sell them and buy one better than the previous combo, repeat.
    I went from gtx560 to gtx560sli to gtx670 to gtx670 sli to r9nan to r9nano xfire.
I chose a 750W PSU to be able to do this. And a case that will easily fit two cards.

Depends on the game and resolution eg GTAV - https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/...80_SLI/13.html - worth it for 4K.
