    Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW owners

    Just a request.

Would it be possible for one of you to tell me what type of composite interface the monitor has? A picure of the interface would be even better is thats not asking too much.

    Thanks alot.
    Nemz.

    Composite is composite.

Imagine what this plugs into and you've got a pretty good idea.

Of course, you could have a browse of the manual on Dell's website

You won't regret buying the 2005FPW - I've had mine a week and it's a fantastic piece of kit! No regrets whatsoever!

My only concerns are that you need one hell of a PC to run it natively.

    hi,

Detective i am also considering the dell 20" widescreen lcd along with the 17 / 19 / 20" they do.

have you had any problems with it?

any backlight bleeding? i have heard so many horror stories in regards to this problem.

    any dead faulty pixels?

it says it comes with a 3 year warranty....what does this exactly mean? does it mean if in 6 months times u have severe backlight or screen problems they'll replace it free of charge?

    any other information about it?

it has gone down to £475

can you post any pictures of your screen?

    thanks,

MakAttack - There's a long thread about this already in the fourms. Do a search, otherwise we're going to end up with 10 duplicate threads saying all the same things.

    thanks,
In answer to your queries - I haven't any backlight bleeding issues whatsoever. I have had a monitor before with a red dead pixel in the centre of the screen which was a nightmare. I have one dead pixel - a light grey one at the top left of the screen but you REALLY have to look hard to see it. It really is tiny and you don't notice it at all.

Secondly, warranty. My understanding is if it develops problems they'll change it. I paid extra - about £30 - and upgraded to five years warranty. Double check with DELL though as I'm not a warranty expert. If you're paying that kind of money you want to be happy.

Thirdly, photos. I've just taken some photos but my profile says I can't post attachments. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried using the insert image button on the 'reply to thread' screen but it says: SCRIPT PROMPT - enter the text to be formatted. MAK ATTACK if you PM me your email address I'll send them to you.
There are some photos on another thread showing the 2005FPW and mine's the same as that but I'll happily send you them.

I only got my rig on friday and installed HL2 yesterday and even my girlfirned - who normally pays little atttention to these matters - was amazed by the graphics on HL2 - the water rippling on the airbike scene is jaw dropping. An X850 xt PE and a 2005FPW were made for HL2!

If anyone can help me with the attachment issues I'd appreciate it. I'm off sick at the moment so I'm going for a marathon HL2, Rome Total War and Far Cry session.

Dell have now rang twice to see if I am happy with the order. Can't fault them so far.

Thanks, mate, but Nemeliza PM'd me before I read this and I sent them to him. Thanks for the offer though.

    thanks detective for your reply,

you must be one of the lucky ones.......most forums i have read have stated that many owners have had very BAD backlighting

i like the price of 475 but don't want a rubbish display sent to me

what should i do? hold out for something better or just order and hope for the best?

    thanks,
