ATi CATALYST Top 10 Tips

... Got a question that you are afraid to ask or maybe think you will look silly? Perhaps this post is for you - if not you may well learn something anyway :)

Our friends (Including 'L337' ATi Catalyst Creator, Spirtual Leader and fansite fanboy - Terry Makedon) from the ATi driver team in Canada have been working hard on a new document for CATALYST users.

It is basically a guide for the 95% of the market (i.e. non-enthusiasts), that have no idea what anti-aliasing, refresh rates or even the point in a driver or CATALYST update is? And no it is not something which makes an argument with the wife or girlfriend worse :P

It is a simple guide that has ten very basic tips for improving computing experience (and should be used by anyone with an ATI card and CATALYST drivers)

I have to say this is more than helpful for people who troubleshoot or talk to end users - if you build a system for a friend well worth showing to them.

If you didn't find it useful what information would you like ATi to put together for you?

i definatly agree it would be a helpful document for end users.. its plain, straightforward, simple.
the kind of information we would want probibly wouldn't get released and would leave the end user even more confused than when they started reading :D

Don't laugh but I actually found this quite useful! It's been a few years since I last built a PC from scratch so I had lost touch with all the current developments. I've also just received an OEM X800 XT card and it was truly OEM - just an anti-static bag with a card in it!

Hence, i've had to research ATi cards a bit to figure out how to get the latest drivers, etc.

So, thanks to David for putting this up as it has helped me. Now, if only I can find a user manual for the generic X800 XT to figure out what some of the connectors on the board itself do. Obviously I know where to plug the monitor in and where the PCI-Express power connector goes but there are a few extra jumpers on the board that I know nothing about.

Edit: I just found all the user manuals on the ATi Web site.

Seriously though - if you can think of something (genuine !) that we can create for you - then we are all ears (cue mental image of bizarre experiment gone wrong)

Can't say we can do all of them - but we created this document in response to customer queries about how drivers are put together and what they can help the end user do
