Changing Resolution....
Lo all,
I've got WinXP and need to change the resolution as my monitor doesnt support the resolution currently set on the PC.....
However, all I get is a blank screen (after the WinXP is loading screen is done).
I'm not too familiar with XP, so could do with some help!
Kind Regards
Nick

boot with safe mode (F8)? change the resolution to a lower one... and reboot.
-
dont do that - boot with vga mode and do it, less likely to break system (safe mode doesnt like my pc)

Yup, there's a VGA Boot option when you hit F8.
But isn't there also an easy way of resetting your gfx options just as Windows is loading - holding onto CTRL or something and it will put all gfx options back to default.

Yeh Nick running in VGA mode seems best idea, then just change resolution from there :) It won't be dodgy or nothing, u r just asking the PC to load ignoring graphics card drivers!

;) Yup. For those looking for a non XP solution, you can edit the SYSTEM.INI file in the C:\Windows\System directory. Simply mod the line that goes something like 'VGAfallback=0' to '=1', under ' [386enh] '. This is from memory though!
